Breaking ground

This is my last term teaching in the science department. It was fun, but it wasn't me. I don't want to work in some of the situations I found myself, and I've talked to the dean about it.

After much paperwork and discussion, I'm transferring to the Religion and Philosophy department!

I'd like to thank my company at the Rock Band tournament, talking a bit made my decision making go so much more smoothly! And I had fun as well. I like fun. But of course, who doesn't? And I found a new drink I like! Except I didn't get its name. I just know that it's pink. I'll find it!

Fall term will roll around soon enough, and with it will come new stuff! I still haven't found a hobby, though maybe Rock Band will do for now!

Teaching and Learning

Teaching is splendid. Teaching is fun! I love the classroom!

So why do I feel like something isn't working?

I've finished teaching one summer session, and I'm into the second, but something isn't enough, and I simply do not know how to fix this. I want to change lives, to inspire, to help, and instead... instead I'm teaching algebra to students on football scholarships, and I'm expected to pass them all! And most would fail fifth-grade math! I do have some science courses for the majors, but they're not accomplishing the reason I set out to teach medicine.

I'll be talking to the dean in the morning; it was scheduled a while ago as an evaluation. She's smart. Maybe she will know what to do!

And in the meantime, I'm going to get a pedicure! And see about taking a class in something myself. It's been too long since I learned something new!

Life things!

Auctions are fun, and I even got bid on! I simply must find two new dresses, since I won a bid too! Suzuki, let me know what you would like to do!

I could use some more friends. I have a couple, but more means more fun, right? And I'm wanting fun!

My office is boring. I think I'm going to wander the campus a little before I head home.

At least Koenma doesn't have one of these things, and I haven't seen any of my bosses on it.

I'm going go invest in Tylenol stock, I think. I thought everyone exaggerated. They did not.

One is a good number to stop at for me!

That went well!

Splendid! I'm unpacked and ready to go! My tour around campus was magnificent, too. I'm looking so forward to the start of summer term, though I have a feeling any student who might hear me saying that would be ready to kill me. They all look so exhausted and desperate.

I can help. Free coffee in my office for all students dealing with finals! I'm stuck in the history department until they can find a good spot for me, since they suddenly have less office space for the science department. Oh dear, I hope this doesn't mean the courses I'd be teaching are history. Hee! Or that I'm history!

Soon I'll be putting my first final together. I've already got things set up for the general education courses I'm teaching, and I get to continue working on Advanced Physiology! Though that won't make for an exciting weekend. I simply must put together plans for my weekend.

Oh my...

I think I own too many things! All of this unpacking has me in quite a tizzy. I need to figure out how to program my VCR, it keeps blinking 12:00 at me. Or it did, until I unplugged it. I believe in being proactive about things like that, though learning might be even more proactive.

Does anyone have a map of the campus? I'll be going to it Monday, and I don't want to be completely lost. All I really need to know is where the science department offices are, since I heard they were moved after 'unfortunate circumstances.' Sounds like someone is beating around the bush, to me! I'll find it, though!

Bingo!

Well, here I am, ready to start teaching for the first time. I must admit I'm a bit nervous, but these are college students, so here's hoping they've got some maturity? My best friend back home keeps telling me to knock them dead, but I don't think that's exactly legal. I hope I don't wind up with the urge to follow his advice!

Summer term starts soon. There's so much to do! I have to unpack, I have to find the office, and I simply must find time to socialize a bit. I also have to look into what's required to be the faculty advisor for the crew team. I did that in college, and I must say it would be quite fun!

But first, a little distraction I noticed as I was looking around. I do love distractions.

TECHNOLOGY

Q. What is your wallpaper on your computer?
The Sepik River

Q. How many televisions do you have in your house?
One for the news. Keeping up on current events is important, you know!

BIOLOGY

Q. Are you right-handed or left-handed?
Right-handed.

Q. Have you ever had anything removed from your body?
No, for which I'm very glad.

Q. What is the last heavy item you lifted?
These boxes up the stairs! I thought I was in shape. :(

Q. Have you ever been knocked out?
No, I haven't.

BULLSHITOLOGY

Q. If it were possible, would you want to know the day you were going to die?
I try to live each day without regrets anyways. I don't know what this would change.

Q. If you could change your name, what would you change it to?
I must admit that sometimes I wish I had a more normal name. I do so like the name Kelly. Then again, I do like my name...

Q. What color do you think looks best on you?
Everything! Except bright reds. Those look funny.

Q. Have you ever swallowed a non-food item?
Nope!

DAREOLOGY

Q. Would you kiss a member of the same sex for $100?
No. Unless I needed groceries and was sick of ramen again.

Q. Would you allow one of your little fingers to be cut off for $200,000?
Most definitely not!

Q. Would you never blog again for $50,000?
I don't know...

Q. Would you pose naked in a magazine for $250,000?
No!

Q. Would you drink an entire bottle of hot sauce for $1,000?
Ugh, no.

Q. Would you, without fear of punishment, take a human life for $1,000,000?
Never.

DUMBOLOGY

Q: What is in your left pocket?
I don't know! Let me see... lint, an old receipt, and a dollar! I'm rich now!

Q: Is Napoleon Dynamite actually a good movie?
It's not my cup of tea.

Q: Do you have hardwood or carpet in your house?
Both.

Q: Do you sit or stand in the shower?
I stand.

Q: How many pairs of flip flops do you own?
Oh dear. Do I have to count? I love every type of sandal so...

LASTOLOGY

Q: Last person who texted you?
Koenma!

Q: Last person who called you?
My father.

Q: Person you hugged?
Oh dear. It's been almost a week since I've hugged someone. This is not right! I miss my friends!

FAVORITOLOGY

Q: Number?
Four. Such a solid, dependable number.

Q: Season?
Spring

Q: Color?
Blue.

CURRENTOLOGY

Q: Missing someone?
Yes.

Q: Mood?
Busy!

Q: Listening to?
Nothing. :( I haven't unpacked my radio or CDs yet.

Q: Watching?
Nothing here either, since I haven't hooked up my television yet. And yet, my computer is up and going. I do have odd priorities.

Q: Worrying about?
My first day.

Q: Wearing?
A pale green peasant-blouse, and khaki pants, and one of my many pairs of flip-flops!

RANDOMOLOGY

Q: First place you went this morning?
The airport.

Q: What can you not wait to do?
Be unpacked.

Q: Do you smile often?
All of the time.

Q: Are you a friendly person?
I like to think I am.
